Chris Lowe is a British production designer and supervising art director. His career in feature filmmaking stretches from the midā1990s to the present, with early credits dating back to art direction roles in films such asĀ The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a MountainĀ (1995) andĀ To Kill a KingĀ (2003), followed by supervising art direction forĀ The Life and Death of Peter SellersĀ (2004) andĀ The Constant GardenerĀ (2005).
During the 2000s, Lowe served as supervising art director on high-profile studio films includingĀ Basic Instinct 2Ā (2006),Ā The Golden CompassĀ (2007),Ā Quantum of SolaceĀ (2008),Ā The Young VictoriaĀ (2009), andĀ Harry BrownĀ (2009). He also worked as a production designer onĀ DreadĀ (2009) and as art director onĀ In BrugesĀ (2008).
Into the 2010s, Lowe became the supervising art director on multiple James Bond films and other blockbusters:Ā Captain America: The First AvengerĀ (2011),Ā SkyfallĀ andĀ Dark ShadowsĀ (both 2012),Ā Into the WoodsĀ (2014),Ā SpectreĀ (2015),Ā Star Wars: The Last JediĀ (2017),Ā DumboĀ (2019), andĀ No Time to DieĀ (2021). From 2022 onward, he has taken on complete production designer duties onĀ The Gray ManĀ (2022),Ā MegāÆ2: The TrenchĀ (2023),Ā Bob Marley: One LoveĀ (2024), andĀ Venom: The Last DanceĀ (2024).
Lowe earned significant industry recognition for his contributions. In 2001, he won a British Academy Television Craft Award for Best Production Design for the TV miniseriesĀ Longitude, shared with Eileen Diss. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2005 for Outstanding Art Direction for a Miniseries or Movie forĀ The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, alongside Norman Garwood, Lucy Richardson, John Ralph, and Maggie Gray.
Within the Art Directors Guild, Lowe has received multiple honours. He won the Guildās Excellence in Production Design Award for a contemporary feature film for his work onĀ No Time to DieĀ in 2022. He was nominated for the same award forĀ DumboĀ (fantasy film) in 2020, forĀ Star Wars: Episode VIIIāÆāāÆThe Last JediĀ (fantasy film) in 2018, and forĀ Spectre (contemporary film) in 2016.
