Monastyrska made her debut with theĀ Ukraine National OperaĀ as Tatiana in Tchaikovsky'sĀ Eugene OneginĀ in 1996 and became a principal soloist with the company in 1998. There, and at theĀ Mikhailovsky TheatreĀ in St. Petersburg, she sang the title roles of Verdi'sĀ AidaĀ and Ponchielli'sĀ La Gioconda, as well as Amelia in Verdi'sĀ Un ballo in maschera, Lisa in Tchaikovsky'sĀ The Queen of Spades, Nedda in Leoncavallo'sĀ Pagliacci, and Santuzza in Mascagni'sĀ Cavalleria rusticana. In 2010 she appeared successfully on short notice in the title role of Puccini'sĀ ToscaĀ at theĀ Deutsche Oper Berlin, which led to her Italian debut at theĀ Festival PucciniĀ in Torre del Lago, Italy, under the conductorĀ Alberto Veronesi.[2]Ā In February 2012 she appeared as Aida atĀ La Scala, Milan
