Simu LiuĀ (/ĖsiĖmuĖĀ ĖliĖjuĖ/Ā SEE-mooĀ LEE-yoo; simplified Chinese:Ā åęę ;Ā traditional Chinese:Ā åęę ; born 19 April 1989) is a CanadianĀ actor. He rose to prominence by starring asĀ Shang-Chi in theĀ Marvel Cinematic Universe, debuting inĀ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsĀ (2021).
Liu was born inĀ Harbin, China, and raised inĀ Mississauga, Ontario. He has also played Paul Xie in theĀ Omni TelevisionĀ crime drama seriesĀ Blood and Waterāfor which he was nominated for aĀ Canadian Screen AwardĀ and anĀ ACTRA AwardāJung Kim in theĀ CBC TelevisionĀ sitcomĀ Kim's ConvenienceĀ (2016ā2021),Ā and one of theĀ Ken dollsĀ in the fantasy comedy filmĀ Barbie (2023).Ā In 2022, Liu published the memoirĀ We Were DreamersĀ and was named one ofĀ Time magazine'sĀ 100 most influential people in the world.
