Biography
James FriendĀ is a British cinematographer best known for his work onĀ Edward Berger'sĀ All Quiet on the Western Front, which earned him theĀ Academy Award for Best Cinematography and theĀ BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography.
In 2024, Friend received an Honorary Fellowship fromĀ The Royal Photographic Society.
Friend grew up inĀ Maidstone,Ā Kent, where he attendedĀ Sutton Valence School. He was awarded a Fellowship from theĀ Royal Photographic SocietyĀ for his film work in 2020.
Friend's television credits includeĀ Patrick MelroseĀ andĀ Your Honor, in which he collaborated with Berger. Additionally, Friend worked on the 2024Ā Disney+Ā seriesĀ The Acolyte, an instalment in theĀ Star WarsĀ franchise.
