She made her screen debut on theĀ Australian televisionĀ dramaĀ All SaintsĀ in 2004, followed by her feature film debut inĀ Suburban MayhemĀ (2006). She became known to a wider audience following her critically acclaimed work on theĀ HBOĀ television seriesĀ In TreatmentĀ (2008). She was nominated for theĀ Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting FemaleĀ for the filmĀ That Evening SunĀ (2009).Ā
Wasikowska gained worldwide recognition in 2010 after starring asĀ AliceĀ inĀ Tim Burton'sĀ Alice in WonderlandĀ and appearing in the comedy-drama filmĀ The Kids Are All Right.
