Monica Maria BarbaroĀ (/ĖbÉĖrbÉroŹ/;Ā born June 17, 1990) is an American actress. She began training inĀ balletĀ at an early age and earned aĀ Bachelor of Fine ArtsĀ in dance fromĀ New York University. She began acting soon after college, taking on small roles in film and television in the 2010s, before her first major role in the second season ofĀ UnrealĀ (2016), followed by further television roles inĀ Chicago P.D.Ā (2016ā2017),Ā Chicago JusticeĀ (2017),Ā The Good CopĀ (2018), andĀ Splitting Up TogetherĀ (2018ā2019). Her feature film debut was in theĀ independent filmĀ The CathedralĀ (2021).
Barbaro's breakthrough came with a supporting role in the action filmĀ Top Gun: MaverickĀ (2022), which she followed with starring roles in theĀ NetflixĀ action comedy seriesĀ FUBARĀ (2023āpresent) and asĀ Joan BaezĀ in the biopicĀ A Complete Unknown (2024). For the latter, she was nominated for theĀ SAG AwardĀ andĀ Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
